HOW TO JOIN AND PLAY IN THE LOCKING CHESS CLUB

(Recommended for foreigners living in São Paulo, Brazil)

WELCOME!

Now that you’ve decided to play LOCKING CHESS and delve into the exciting world of MIND SPORTS, schedule a visit to the LOCKING CHESS CLUB (CONTACT) to sign up and become a ROYAL PIONEER MEMBER!

Come on the scheduled day and time and, after completing your registration form and paying the chosen monthly fee (Monthly, Bimonthly or Quarterly), sign your name on the official list of ROYAL PIONEERS MEMBERS of the CLUB, where your due credits to play with the date they were received (whose duration expires at the end of the chosen tuition plan), and you will already be authorized to play LOCKING CHESS on our boards on the same day with the other associated members.

We do not accept registrations from minors. Only adult men and women over 18 years old.

ROYAL MEMBERS can bring two guests at a time to experience the CLUB.

Visitors need to schedule their visit to the CLUB in advance through the CONTACT section, email PLAY@LOCKINGCHESS.COM or WhatsApp +55 11 97454-9111.

IMPORTANT:

Before starting to play the GOLD tournaments and Duels held weekly at the CLUB, we recommend that you follow this sequence of learning/studying and read the matches rules:

1. Play “SPARRING” matches at home and at the CLUB, without prizes or rewards.

It is an excellent way for beginners, intermediate and advanced players to perfect themselves before enrolling in the PRIZE POOL tournaments held in person at LOCKING CHESS CLUB in São Paulo and at affiliated clubs.

At home, players recreationally practice LOCKING CHESS with their friends and any results of their training matches, whether wins, draws or losses, will NOT count towards the official LOCKING CHESS rating.

If tables with chessboards are available in the CLUB, ROYAL MEMBERS can play “sparring” games.

It is recommended to apply the CHESS BEYOND DIMENSIONS theory of the International Master Andrzej Szypulski in choosing the best moves, writing them down in the official score sheets and carefully studying your “sparring” games. Winning, losing, or drawing, every move of your “sparring” match should become a lesson to be learned and never forgotten. It is also very important to memorize the best of these games in order to recover the stored information in the future (for this we indicate the mnemonic technique of the MENTAL CHESSBOARD).

2. Participate in GOLD private tournaments with cash prizes (PRIZE POOL).

GOLD tournaments are held at the LOCKING CHESS CLUB exclusively for ROYAL MEMBERS with experience in several sparring matches.

At LOCKING CHESS CLUB, there are two GOLD tournaments per weekend, with three rounds per day.

Drawn matches do not add any rating points to the players. The losers in the tournament will also not have any points removed from their rating. Only the player who wins most rounds will receive the prize amount transferred to their bank account registered with the CLUB within 48 hours and converted into points to be added to their rating (in the GOLDEN POINTS system, each credit unit is worth 1 dollar and 10 credits are worth 1 point).

EXAMPLE: a player signs up for the CLUB by purchasing 150 credits to participate in a GOLD tournament with four players. The winning player of the tournament will win 300 credits and the CLUB will convert these credits into cash and deposit this amount in your previously registered bank account within 48 hours.

This value of the prize won by the champion of a GOLD tournament will be converted into 30 points added to his/her rating on the official CLUB leaderboard and his/her name will appear on the ranked list available on the LOCKINGCHESS.COM website.

GOLD tournaments are rapid games of LOCKING CHESS, with a time of 45 minutes without extra time. There is no ranking division and adult men and women compete together.

TIE BREAKING: if two players win the same number of points in the tournament, the winner will be declared who played more times as Black.

WARNING:

GOLD Tournaments are open to ROYAL MEMBERSHIPS ADULT MEN AND WOMEN 18 years of age or older only.

3. DUEL MATCHES

Any ROYAL MEMBER can challenge another member to a series of three consecutive matches played on the same day in the CLUB, with a time limit of 60 minutes without extra time and a maximum break of 15 minutes of interval. It will normally be a match between champions of tournaments, but any player can challenge another player and the challenged player has the right to refuse the DUEL.

Guests and visitors will not be accepted in these DUELS.

At the LOCKING CHESS CLUB, two DUELS are held per weekend to be scheduled in advance by the challenging members.

Minimum amount to DUEL: 100 credits for each player.

Maximum amount to DUEL: 500 credits for each player.

NOTE: it is up to the players to define the amount of the reward together with the CLUB.

DUEL REFEREE FEE and intermediation of the CLUB reward: 100 credits (50 credits per player).

If each player registers with 100 credits + 50 credits from the CLUB fee, the total of 200 dollars of reward credits will be transferred in full to the winner’s bank account within 48 hours and this value will be converted into 20 points that will be added to the rating of this winner.

When the three games of the DUEL end in a draw, the winner will be declared who played with the black pieces in the first and third match.

After these 3 steps, from technical preparation by playing “sparring” matches to participating in GOLD tournaments and scheduling DUELS, most players will be experienced and fit enough to compete in LEAGUE events between chess clubs affiliated with the LOCKING CHESS CLUB, in which the champions of each club will also be able to participate in the ANNUAL LOCKING CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP and fight for the title of GRIFFON MASTER!

OFFICIAL SCORE SHEET FOR LOCKING CHESS MATCH NOTATION

*HOW THE LOCKING CHESS RATING WORKS?

The seed-idea came from the most famous and lucrative card game, Poker!

The list of the best poker players on the planet could follow a single mathematical criterion: their annual earnings. Similarly, the values of prizes and rewards won by each player will define their strength in LOCKING CHESS.

This system is calculated on the value of rewards and cash prizes that a player wins, after all, to win prizes and rewards you must first participate in the official tournaments, duels and championships organized by the LOCKING CHESS CLUB and win the highest number of matches.

The fun and excitement of games with prize pool and cash rewards adds a new flavor to the LOCKING CHESS experience!

And it can even help you finance your passion for chess!

THE GOLDEN POINTS

In the past, all currencies were backed by their equivalent in gold bullion bars protected as reserves in government vaults. In LOCKING CHESS, rating points are based on the total amount of money earned in GOLD tournaments and DUELS matches.

This LOCKING CHESS rating system was called GOLDEN POINTS: the more a player participates in GOLD tournaments, DUELS and championships in the LOCKING CHESS CLUB, and wins matches and receives prizes and rewards, the higher his/her rating will be compared to other players. The amount a player has earned will dictate the number of points in their rating. And, just like the value of gold, your rating will tend to inflate over the period you’re in business.

Similar to poker pros, a LOCKING CHESS pro will also have his/her strength and skill measured in the total amount s/he has earned during a year. This makes the assessment simple and accurate, after all, “the numbers don’t lie”: a player who earns 10 credits more than another player over the course of a year will be ahead of him/her in the ranking (in the GOLDEN POINTS system, each credit is worth 1 dollar and 10 credits are worth 1 point).

In LOCKING CHESS, a player does not need to compete in every weekly GOLD tournament to reach the top of the leaderboard. It will be the value of prizes and rewards reinvested and multiplied with each match won that will reveal its strength. If you and your opponent compete in a DUEL with a reward of 400 credits, the winner will increase his/her rating by 40 points. And the value of 400 dollars can be reused in the purchase of new credits to compete in other DUELS and GOLD tournaments and exceed 10,000 credits (1,000 points), depending on the value of the prizes and rewards in these matches. Consequently, your rating will be a sample and proof of your level.

In the GOLDEN POINTS system, the “gold” you accumulate with each victory officially playing LOCKING CHESS in the CLUB will be the ballast of your chess strength!

LOCKING CHESS is a game for those with the knees and heart of a Horse, the focus of an Eagle and the confidence of a Lion. Aware of this, become a GRIFFON MASTER!
